Hyundai is adding to its already popular infotainment system. The automaker just announced that the 2015 Sonata will be integrating Android Auto into their current system.

The Sonata already has Apple CarPlay, meaning the car is now compatible with both major smartphones. Hyundai is the first major manufacturer to include Android Auto on a production vehicle. Right now the system is only available on the Sonata with Navigation, but Hyundai is looking to expand its reach across its entire lineup soon.

“Android Auto aligns with Hyundai’s core interior design principles of safety, intuitiveness and simplicity,” said Dave Zuchowski, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. "We launched this highly anticipated feature on our best-selling Sonata, adding to our promise of value. With the launch of Android Auto, we provide more owners with the experience of cutting-edge technology.”

Android Auto offers a host of fun tech features, as well as several new safety features. One of the most impressive features is the system’s synchronization with a user’s smartphone by providing driving-related functions on the phone to the system’s 8-inch touchscreen. Android users will need a 5.0 “Lollipop” OS or later to work with the Sonata. Once a user plugs in their phone into the car’s USB port, the system will pull the user’s information, making it simple and easy to navigate everything from directions and calendar entries to traffic conditions and music streaming.
