The 2016 Hyundai Tucson has received MotorWeek’s Drivers’ Choice Award for “Best Small Utility” at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show. It’s a distinguished award that recognizes vehicles based on what consumers value the most: price, practicality, performance and fuel efficiency.
The editorial staff at MotorWeek then selects the best models in a range of lifestyle divisions. The comprehensive “Best of the Year” Awards were then chosen from those top cars.
With its energetic engine and advanced safety and infotainment features, it’s no surprise that the new Hyundai Tucson won this award either.

Starting with what’s under the hood, the Tucson SE trim boasts a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder that produces 175 horses and 195 pound-feet of torque. It’s coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Move up to the Eco, Sport and Limited trims and you get a 1.6L four that pumps out 175 ponies and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. Here, the transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual that performs like an automatic.
Standard safety equipment on the 2016 Hyundai Tucson includes stability and traction control, active front head restraints, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, hill-hold assist and hill descent control along with antilock disc brakes. In addition, every Tucson model comes with a rearview camera for improved safety. The Sport trim comes standard with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. While the Limited grade gets all these features plus standard rear parking sensors.

On the entertainment end, the Tucson is packed with fun features that are offered as standard equipment, like a 5-inch touchscreen, USB connectivity, Bluetooth and satellite radio.
