Carrollton residents with four-legged canine companions are welcome to participate in the upcoming Run for Rover 5K on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at the newly built McInnish Dog Park. Open to all pups, this special race is being held to benefit the City of Carrollton Animal Services and Adoption Center, an organization dedicated to helping animals in need.

Fun for all dog lovers, the Run for Rover 5K is one race where pets come first. As a part of the event, participants begin the race at McInnish Dog Park and continue through the sports complex to complete a full 5K. For owners with older dogs or those with limitations, a shorter route will also be available. Pre-registration for the race is open now and offered online. Admission is $15 for owners and $5 for dogs. Those who pre-register will also receive a timing chip, race bag, t-shirt and bandana.

On the day of race, the 5K will being promptly at 9 a.m. Awards will be handed out at 10:30 a.m. in a series of categories, so be sure to stick around following the race. You and your furry pooch could end up taking home an accolade for your participation.
