Specs at a Glance

The 2019 Elantra got a facelift and the results show well inside and out. All seven trims offered in the Elantra model feature brand-new technologically advanced LED daytime running lights, taillights and headlights present a bold view of its sharp, split-line curves.

From the basic SE to the Limited edition, each Elantra shows off a grin on its reconfigured grille. A jaunty contemporary hood and retooled front fenders surround the new grille. Crisp lines lead back to the lifted rear. The back features a wing-like lifted trunk with plenty of room for groceries, sports equipment, kids and the dog.

A comparison of the SE, available in two versions, and Limited finds something for everyone in these different Elantra trims.

How Does Performance Differ in Trims?

Both the SE and Limited have a 2.0-liter engine running at 147-horsepower on four cylinders. The SE offers two choices, the SE 6MT and SE 6AT. The SE 6MT is the only Elantra that has a six-speed manual available for those quick runs to the store. This vehicle's manual transmission offers a hands-on approach for more shift control. The SE 6AT is the basic manual transmission that offers optional cruise control, which is not available in the SE 6MT. The Elantra Limited has a standard SHIFTRONIC 6-speed automatic transmission.

The SE 6MT uses front disc brakes and rear drum brakes for the best braking power with a manual transmission. Both the SE 6AT and the Limited provide 4-wheel disc brakes for full stopping power when driving with an automatic transmission.

15-inch steel wheels with covers are standard on the SE. The Limited 17-inch alloy wheels provide performance-enhancing grip as you navigate asphalt and other surfaces.

Exterior Appearance and Features

The exterior appearance is similar for the Elantra SE and Limited. Limited provides standard chrome molding. A hood insulator and LED headlights come standard with the Limited. Both vehicles have daytime running lights, but the Limited lights are LED, as are the taillights. Door handle approach lights and automatic headlight control and high beam assist are standard with the Limited.

Both the SE and Limited give you dual, fold-away side mirrors, but only the Limited offers heated side mirrors. If you live in a mild climate, this detail is insignificant. The Limited also offers side mirrors with turn-signal indicators.

Interior Appearance and Features of SE and Limited

The interior reflects some marked differences between the basic SE and the Limited trim. It begins with the power tilt-and-slide sunroof that is an optional feature in the Limited. While air conditioning is standard in both vehicles, only the Limited has dual automatic temperature control, an ionizer and automatic defogging system.

The Limited has an automatic one-touch up driver's window. Its drivers' seat is powered, and it offers the driver power lumbar support. The SE has premium cloth seating while the Limited offers leather seating with standard heated front seats. Leatherette door inserts, sun visor extensions and dual illuminated vanity mirrors are standard features in the Limited trim. The Limited has a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob as well.

The SE has a 5-inch touchscreen while the Limited has a 7-inch touchscreen offers an optional upgrade to and 8-inch navigation system with touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard in the Limited.
