What's New For the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Introduced back in 2001, the Santa Fe has been a popular staple among the SUV market in the U.S. Its affordability and comfort sets it apart from the competition, but it was time for a change. Hyundai is changing a few key features for the 2021 model year. Three different powertrains have been added to the lineup to replace some of the outdated varieties that weren't providing enough efficiency.

The new trim, Calligraphy, adds premium exterior and interior finishes and a host of luxurious features for 2021. New inclusions are a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, and a hybrid 1.6 liter four-cylinder with turbocharging. Some other minor changes include push-button shifting, semi-autonomous driving modes, and a larger infotainment screen. The 8.0-inch will now be the standard inclusion, but you can also upgrade to a 10.3-inch display. Hyundai has also made Android Auto and Apple CarPlay standard features in the Santa Fe across all trim levels.

Which Trims & Features Are Available in 2021?

There are five trim levels available for 2021: SE, SEL, Limited, Calligraphy 2.5T AWD with 19-inch Wheels, and Calligraphy. The SE trim includes an 8-inch color touchscreen display, 18-inch alloy wheels, and LED headlights. You get wireless device charging, heated outside mirrors, and heated front seats on the SEL trim. Limited adds 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation, Harman Kardon premium audio system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats.

Calligraphy 2.5T AWD with 19-inch Wheels, comes with premium Nappa leather seating, premium interior, and exterior finishes, ambient lighting, Remote Smart Parking Assist, heads-up display, and Surround View Monitor. The Calligraphy trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels. Hyundai will have hybrid and plug-in hybrid models added to the lineup in 2021.

What's Under the Hood of the Hyundai Santa Fe?

Three new powertrains have been added to the 2021 Santa Fe lineup for efficiency, power, and performance. The standard engine for the Santa Fe is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that clocks in at 191 horsepower, with 181 lb-ft of torque, and connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5-liter comes with a turbocharger starting with the Limited trim. It pumps out 277 horsepower and has 311 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid model gets a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a twin pair of electric motors.

Santa Fe Safety at the Forefront

Santa Fe includes an abundance of standard and available safety and driver-assistance features. This year's model will include forward collision monitoring technology, driver attention warning, Rear View Monitor with Parking Guidance, and automated emergency braking as standard features. You'll also get Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, lane-keep assist technology, and lane departure warning technology. Blind-Spot View Monitor, Surround View, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance are standard on higher trims.
