Following the lead of Hyundai's larger Sonata, the all-new Elantra has a more conservative look than before. The bold lines that it once had are now more subtle. Refined and polished, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra in Dallas is a head-turner.

Inside, the new Elantra gives off a more upscale feel than its predecessor with its easy-to-use touchscreen display and high-tech features. Its backseat is also roomier than previous models.

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra is offered in three trim levels: SE, Eco and Limited. Standard equipment includes 15'' steel wheels, air-conditioning, full power accessories, a tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, height adjustable front seats and a six-speaker sound system with satellite radio and a CD player. The sedan also comes standard with a 60/40-split folding rear seatback for easy loading and unloading. Amenities like leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver seat and navigation are found on higher trims.

Safety-wise, all Elantra models get standard equipment like antilock brakes, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag and traction and stability control. The SE's Popular Equipment package comes standard with a rearview camera, improving safety. The all-new Elantra can also be had with emergency assistance, automatic crash notification, stolen vehicle recovery, remote access and secondary driver monitoring.

2016 Hyundai Elantra reviews call the sedan peppy and fun to drive and we agree. SE and Limited trims get a 2-liter four-cylinder that generates 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. SE models are offered with a six-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed automatic is optional on SE and standard on Limited trims. All Elantra models get great miles per gallon; however to boost your mpg even more, the Eco Limited is the way to go. It's powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter four that produces 128 horses and 156 pound-feet of torque and it has an EPA-estimated rating of 35 combined mpg.
